InSinkErator CRD-00 Power Cord Kit

Black & Decker ST1000 9-Inch 1.8 amp Electric Grass Trimmer

>>> BlackFriday Black & Decker ST1000 9-Inch 1.8 amp Electric Grass Trimmer

Product Features

  • Ideal for smaller yards or light-duty trimming jobs

  • 1.8 Amp motor operates at 11000 RPM.

  • Bump feed spool allows feeding of the line as needed

  • Dimensions: 17.8 x 7.8 x 7.2 inches (WxHxD); weighs 3.2 pounds; 2-year warranty

  • Comes with 20 feet of .065-diameter line

This small light weight trimming/edging tool cuts in 9-inch swathes at a time. Because of its size it is more controllable than the larger (12" - 14") trimmers.

The larger more powerful trimmers are not suitable for many lawns. I took back one because of its imprecise cutting. The powerful motor resulted in the shredding of a wood edging that separates the lawn from an adjacent mulched area.

One problem with all trimmers is that there is nothing to catch the flying bits of lawn. The only thing that might help in the future is to lay a sheet over the mulched area adjacent to the lawn to catch the cuttings and move the sheet as I go along. Perhaps this should come with a sheet? Again the smaller less powerful machine's precision reduces excess trimmings. This is also a less noisy machine and is easier to store than the more powerful trimmers.

Features include a trimming option so that you can trim lawn under protruding bushes or around rocks etc. There's also a locking feature for the electric cord. YOu do need to occasionally "bump" the machine (literally lighting hitting it against the lawn) to advance the cutting wire this takes a little practice to get right. However the learning curve is fast after a few outings I thought this was a fairly useful machine.

Update:

I now would not recommend this unless one has previous satisfied experience with it or something very similar. The main problem is the weight of the cutting assembly at the end of a long "pole." The physics are simply against the user.

Add to that the need to recharge and replace the cutting wire and for ME the disadvantages outweigh the benefits highlighted in the original review.

Kidde KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm with Talking Alarm

>>> BlackFriday Kidde KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm with Talking Alarm

  • Battery safeguard ensures the unit cannot be accidentally mounted without batteries installed
  • Test-reset button tests alarm circuitry and triggers the voice announcement

We live in a 4 level split home. Our gas furnace is on the lower 3rd level. Two years ago we had several smoke alarms but only one carbon monoxide detector on the top bedroom level of our home. One early Saturday morning we awoke to the voice of this alarm broadcasting "WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTED!" over and over again. I got out of bed and took the batteries out of the unit. By then my then 16 year old daughter came out of her room and was watching me. I told her to go back to bed but she asked me why we weren't going outside to our designated emergency spot. I thought I was being a bad example after all the years of telling the children to get our of the house if an alarm went off. I didn't think there was a problem. I assumed the unit was broken or needed a new battery. I wasn't thinking clearly. So I put the batteries back in to see if it would go off again. It did. She again asked why we weren't following the rules and going outside so we left the house and called 911.

When the firemen arrived I kept apologizing for calling them to our home for an obvious mistake. I thought the firemen would tell us it was a false alarm. It wasn't. The heater core had cracked and was leaking carbon monoxide. The levels were high enough to make us confused but not yet put us to sleep. Had my daughter not watched me handle the alarm I would have gone back to sleep without ever putting the batteries back in. We were very lucky to have my daughter and this CM detector.

The voice made everything so much clearer than just a siren. If it hadn't said "carbon monoxide" I would have left the batteries out and gone back to sleep because I couldn't see any smoke or fire and I was tired. I don't think I would have thought about carbon monoxide. It was well worth every penny. I now have CM detectors on every floor of my home. This talking carbon monoxide detector helped save my families life.

Technical Details

  • Includes installation hardware
  • 33" x 22"
  • Basin depth 8-Inches
  • Medium/small double-basin design
  • Self-rimming installation

Absolutely love this sink. It's very nice quality. I would highly recommend it an easy update to the kitchen. In hindsight I would have put the garbage disposal on the larger sink side after soaking pots or having large dishes to rinse it would be easier to do in the large side.
